Saturday Session--Indianapolis Campus: Saturdays, beginning April 3, 2010 through April 24, 2010 (4 weeks of instruction)  Hours:  9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. (24 contact hours).

Saturday Session--Greenwood Campus: Saturdays, beginning April 3, 2010 through April 24, 2010 (4 weeks of instruction)  Hours:  9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. (24 contact hours).

Kentucky Location:

Monday and Wednesday Session--Lexington Campus:  Mondays and Wednesdays, begining April 5, 2010 through April 28, 2010 (4 weeks of instruction) Hours:  6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. (24 contact hours)

Course Description

This course is designed to introduce the student to the techniques and procedures necessary to prepare and dispense medications in both the institutional and community pharmacy settings. Preparing medication involves using both sterile and non-sterile techniques to count, measure and compound drugs. This course also covers reading the order/prescription; preparing, packaging and labeling medication; and information regarding maintaining the patient profile.

This is an excellent short-term course for individuals wanting to break into the expanding healthcare field or boost qualifications on their current resumes.

Certificates of attendance will be awarded only to those who attend a minimum of 75% of the class sessions. The certificate will denote proficiency or non-proficiency status. In order to acquire and demonstrate the necessary skills, attendance of the final class is mandatory to receive proficiency status.
